Exhibition "Genesis" in Erarta Museum. Footwear of the future

For eight years, Sebastio Salgado traveled the planet, and selected 245 photographs from many thousands of images to show that there are still places on Earth that a tourist or developer has never set foot on. From 2004 to 2011, Salgado visited 32 different places on the planet - he visited the Kalahari Desert, the jungles of Indonesia, the Galapagos Islands, Madagascar, Alaska, Antarctica, as well as the Russian Kamchatka Peninsula and Wrangel Island. Salgado is one of the most recognizable contemporary artists, and this exhibition is a great chance to get acquainted with his black and white photographs, which have traveled the planet several times already. In addition to being incredibly beautiful, these photos serve an important purpose - to tell that the planet Earth is a magical place that is being destroyed at a tremendous rate right now. The exhibition of Sebastio Salgado calls for thinking about what each individual person does to save wildlife.

The exhibition at the Erarta Museum includes about 100 pairs of shoes by leading contemporary designers. Shoes in precious stones and platforms made of cypress wood, sandals printed on a 3D printer, studded and beaded heels, the most unexpected solutions and incredible shapes - an extravaganza of design fantasy without any limits!

Shoes by Canadian designer Anastasia Radevich

All Anastasia Radevich models are quite wearable, very light and comfortable. At the same time, the designer always puts some meaning into his creations, most often of an ecological nature. How do we treat our planet? What awaits us in the future with such unbridled overproduction?.. Anastasia does everything herself: sculpt forms, which she then creates from different alloys, makes blanks for blocks from wood, cuts and sews leather.

Shoes by Texas designer Omar Perez

Designer Omar Angel Perez creates shoes that look pretty brutal. Thus, the designer pays tribute to the sacrifices that women make in the name of beauty and fashion. And besides shoes, Omar designs furniture! Favorite material - natural wood. Therefore, his shoes weigh a lot.

Italian designer shoes Giuseppe Zanotti

“For me, making shoes is more than just inventing an outward form. In its own way, it is a kind of scientific combination of various technologies and design. From the point of view of using technological know-how and fitting to the foot, the production of shoes can be quite difficult.” - Giuseppe Zanotti.

Spanish designer shoes Silvia Fado

Silvia Fado created the Kinetic Traces collection with air springs and hydraulic pistons built into the heels. It doesn’t sound too feminine, but it looks good, and most importantly, it makes walking in high heels much easier!

Shoes by Japanese designer Noritaka Tatehana

Tatehana is the inventor of the "no-heel" shoes, which are based on the principle of gravity. The designer says that he was inspired by the Japanese geisha culture to create the famous shoes. Noritaka Tatehana refers to designers who personally control the process of making their brand's shoes at all stages. The height of shoes from Tatekhana is traditionally from twenty-five to forty-five centimeters.

Exhibition "Genesis". Footwear of the future at the Erarta Museum. Until March 20, 2016

St. Petersburg, which is interesting both in terms of creative art, a futuristic view of the world of the near future, and in terms of fashion and style. As is already clear from the name of the exhibition, the exposition presents designer shoes of the future. The authors of the exhibits reflect on what the shoes of the most stylish fashionistas might look like in the near future.

The opening of the exhibition took place on December 19 and will last until March 20, 2016. Their phantasmagoric works were presented by such famous authors in the world of art and fashion as: Zaha Hadid, Kenzo Takada, Iris van Herpen, Omar Pereza, Silvia Fado, Giuseppe Zanotti, Noritaki Tatehana and others. By visiting the Genesis exhibition, you can imagine what you yourself will wear in a couple of decades, or what our children will wear. The fashion industry is changing at an incredibly fast pace. Many simply do not keep up with fashion trends and trends that are transformed into something new literally every season. It is not difficult to assume that such shoes will become fashionable and become almost everyday in the very near future. If now we look at these exhibits as something incredible and fantastic, then in the future they can become prototypes of shoes for walking in the park, going to a restaurant, theater or business meetings.

And yet, a good half of the shoes presented in Erarta will probably remain only at exhibitions in museums of conceptual art. The models that are presented in this exhibition are mostly utopian and created only as art objects. The top designers of the world tried to create not practical shoes of the future, but shoes from a fantastic and incredible future, that is, they transferred art to the plane of fashion.
