Look around, what do you think, what will be discussed in our lesson? (About dolls)

Do you remember your first doll, what was it like? (From the store, plastic).

Today we will travel back in time and find ourselves in the Russian hinterland, in the village where our great-grandmothers and great-grandfathers probably lived. Where our origins begin. We will find out what the children played with, how and from what the dolls were made.

So, we begin our journey! A traditional toy in the life of the Russian village, even in the poorest peasant families, has long been a rag doll. While the children were small, mothers, grandmothers, older sisters sewed dolls for them. The folk rag doll was not just a toy, it carried a certain function: it was believed that such a doll guards children's sleep and protects the child from everything unkind. Our great-grandmothers knew how to make dolls that bring good luck to the house, comfort babies, and exorcise diseases. Everything was done by them manually, for a specific child, in a single copy, the toy was not standard even within the same street. The toy was not only a wise teacher in life, not only a friend and companion, but also a talisman.

Doll "Krupenichka" - an old bulk toy - is a charm for satiety and prosperity in the family. From early childhood, we remember the Russian folk tale about the beautiful Krupenichka: “A certain prince had a daughter, who, at the whim of her father, was named Krupenichka. Krupenichka grew up beautiful, smart and hardworking. The Basurmans attacked the principality, seized Krupenichka and drove away in full, as a gift to the Khan. Krupenichka rejected Khan's claims to marry, and in order to break the proud beauty, he loaded her with overwork. From dawn to dusk Krupenichka worked in the field. Once, a wretched praying woman passed by, returning from distant holy places. She took pity on Krupenichka, turned her into a buckwheat seed and hid it in a pouch. So I brought it in a pouch to my home. And so that the Basurman Khan could not find Krupenichka, she buried her in the ground. And Krupenichka sprouted into a beautiful buckwheat bush, which gave a bountiful harvest. This is how buckwheat appeared in Rus'.” Since that time, the Slavs began to grow groats, unprecedented before that time - buckwheat.

The most important feature of the material for making a doll was that it was taken from one's own home, was used and old, that is, “one's own”. The use of worn fabrics and the remnants of thread used to be associated with savings, since in the old days in Rus' they were made by hand, and this is difficult and time consuming. They also believed that the fabric made by one's own hands, "lived" in the house, would protect the family from danger.

The owner of the house, before the start of the sowing season, made a clay doll, buried it in the center of the field, with a prayer for a good harvest, for good weather. Where did the first dolls in Rus' come from, no one knows.

There is a legend. In ancient times, the Slavs worshiped pagan gods. Every spring they brought different gifts to the gods of the earth, including a beautiful girl. And then one day a young man fell in love with such a girl, and he decided to save her. “Stop!” he shouted from the crowd. A young man came out, holding a birch log in his hands. Having asked the women for a few handkerchiefs, he dressed up a log in an instant - well, why not a girl with a little white face! The log doll was immediately given a name - Collodia, and a sacrifice was made instead of a girl. Thus came the end of the terrible custom. Slavic women were spared from an absurd death. And memories of this remained only in fairy tales, where beauties pay off dragons. And the Slavic gods began ... to play with dolls. Yes, yes, because Collodia was the first Slavic doll.
The gloomy rites of sacrifice turned into joyful holidays. Stuffed dolls were usually woven from straw, dressed up, carried around the village with songs, danced around them, and started games, and then “give them away” to the gods, asking in return for good weather, rich harvests, and successful hunting. The holidays were so good! Some of them have survived to this day.

Let's remember what holidays it is when we use dolls? (Shrovetide, Trinity, Spirits Day). Let's continue our journey.

Let's take a look at the nearest hut.

A young peasant woman bent over a wooden cradle. She puts a homemade rag doll next to the newborn baby and says: “Drowsy-insomnia, don’t play with my baby, but play with this doll.” We ended up in a Russian village.

And near the stove there are dolls of “twelve fevers”: Ogneya, Lideya, Gresei, Chihei, Znobeya, Kashley, Kosney, Deaf... Before the cold weather, a special grandmother was invited into the house, who read a long conspiracy from various diseases and at that time the eldest in the family the woman had to twist at least 12 dolls. It was believed that the more she twisted the dolls, the more she would protect her family from big illnesses during the winter, and in April they were taken out into the street and burned, the diseases that they had taken on themselves went away with fire. They must drive away the disease from the owners. As you can see, the doll was still not a toy for a child, but for other misfortunes. Her job is to protect a person, to distract evil forces from him. Therefore, such a chrysalis was called - coastline. If trouble happened in the house, it was necessary to take the doll, turn it three times counterclockwise and say: “Turn away evil, turn good!”

The beautiful bride also played with dolls. An elegant amulet doll was given to her by her mother, blessing her for marriage.

Let's remember the Russian folk tale "Vasilisa the Beautiful".

“There was a merchant in a certain kingdom. He lived in marriage for twelve years and had only one daughter, Vasilisa the Beautiful. When her mother died, the girl was eight years old. Dying, the merchant's wife called her daughter to her, took the doll out from under the blanket, gave it to her and said: “Listen, Vasilisushka! Remember and fulfill the last words. I am dying and, together with my parental blessing, I leave you this doll; keep it always with you and do not show it to anyone; and when you happen to you, what a grief, give her something to eat and ask her for advice. She will eat and tell you how to help misfortune ... ”This, of course, is a fairy tale, but ...

There was a custom in a pagan family: every year a woman-hostess made a doll with love, which was supposed to protect and protect children, husband, house from diseases, grief, crop failure, evil eye. The doll was called that - coastline.

The coaster dolls were made from what was at hand (straw, flax, bast, birch bark). Sometimes the doll was placed at the lintel of the door, saying: "Turn with good, turn away with evil."

Another moral meaning is hidden in the tale of Vasilisa: a thing handed down from a dead mother will protect us all our lives.

Every nation has had its own dolls since time immemorial. Toys among many peoples, despite their differences, are largely similar in design, shape, decor. And this happened because toys were born in labor. Both the famous master and the simple peasant studied with one great master - nature, and the child played in a luxurious palace, and in a straw hut.

Only toys - dolls were different. The doll was dressed up, but the face was not painted. Such dolls were called faceless.

According to popular beliefs, a doll with a face seemed to acquire a soul and could harm a child. Therefore, a faceless doll was at the same time a talisman. And one more feature of the amulet dolls - during the manufacture they were tied with red threads, in front of the cross, behind two parallel threads.

III. Formation of knowledge and skills. Explanation + demonstration of practical techniques. Today at the lesson we will make a doll - amulet "Grace" Let's listen to this word Good, give, give, create. These are good words for every person.

We complete the cross with yellow threads. In a reversible way, we put on a sundress. From a yellow patch, we fold the tube, fasten its ends with a purple thread and apply the resulting hands to the doll.

Good afternoon dear guests. I am very pleased to see you all today.

"He who does not play with dolls does not know happiness"

Now I'll tell you about the folk doll,

And if you like it, I'll show you how to make it.

Man-made dolls have accompanied the life of Russian peasants for centuries. They were carefully kept in chests and passed down from generation to generation. Mothers, older sisters, grandmothers sewed dolls for small children, “... with all their incredible busyness, they found time for this. The child was specially taught the traditional methods of making a doll, and from the age of five, any girl could make a simple rag doll. And girls began to learn how to make dolls from the age of three.

The main feature of the doll is that it is made without a needle and faceless. For a child, a doll will be a toy-girlfriend and a talisman at the same time, therefore it is not worth pricking it with a needle, and according to popular beliefs, it is impossible to make a face, since such a doll can find a soul and become dangerous. A "faceless" doll is considered an inanimate object and cannot harm the child. A doll made with love with her own hands will be the pride of her craftswoman. Today we will make a doll - the amulet "Grace". Let's listen to this word Good - good, give - I give, I create. These are good words for every person.

Doll Grace - The Good Giver is made as a gift for Christmas or for the feast of the Annunciation on April 7th. You can do it just like that, as a token of Gratitude. Then Gratitude will return to you with good news. “First give, then ask.” It is given with the words: Never be sad, do not lose heart and do not give up. Indeed, the doll is very symbolic with its unbending arms-twigs, which are stretched out to the sky, as if in the hope of heaven's help. “Grace” - the hands-sticks of the doll raised upwards symbolized a prayer for grace, for a happy female lot. The Grace doll reminds a woman of her main task - to Give Good. That's why she has big breasts.

The doll is made on a birch or mountain ash horn. The doll becomes bright, cheerful, joyful. Since the doll is protective, we fix everything with a red thread.

Now we will make a doll the way we did in Rus', i.e. without scissors and needles. Let's do it carefully, with love! Think about what your doll protects from! Remember that you have a big family where everyone helps each other, does not quarrel, and shares what they have. Good luck!

The doll is just a feast for the eyes

To the surprise of all children

If you want to learn

Make this doll

You don't have to be lazy

And put in the effort!

1. We start with the hands. We take a red thread and bend the tip inward, we begin to wrap the branch around the hand in a spiral until it is connected. We wrap the second branch in the same way. We fix the threads at the base.

2. Making the head. In a square of white fabric 20x20 put a cotton ball. We tie with a thread around the neck. Got a bag.

3. We make 2 more chest bags 14x14 cm from colored fabric.

4. We put the head on the fork of the branches. We wrap the rest of the fabric around the trunk, fix it with a thread.

2. We attach the chest to the neck with a red thread crosswise.

3. We collect the skirt of the desired length on a thread, picking it up, fasten it with an overlap at the back.

4. We put on an apron from above, bend the edge of the apron and wrap it in a non-reversible way, fix it with a belt.

5. We put on a warrior under a scarf.

6. We tie the scarf forward.

These were the dolls. And this is only a small part of all that variety. All of them carried a magical effect. Of course, someone can say that all this is fiction, but people believed in it. This knowledge lived for a very long time and was passed down from generation to generation.

Thank you for your kind attention. Before dispersing, I suggest that each participant indicate their impressions of the master class by choosing a flower of any color and decorate our doll's outfit with it. A red flower - I liked everything, blue - I want to know more, yellow - I'm interested, I will use it in my work.

Do-it-yourself grace doll step by step instructions

Slavic amulet doll Grace.

The “Grace” doll was made and presented with words. "Don't be sad, don't be discouraged, don't give up." Blues doll; the wish for prosperity, well-being, satiety and healthy children - this is indicated by large breasts. This doll is made for well-being and they ask her for blessings as much as necessary. The “good giver” never gives up on doing good deeds, she helps us understand what is good for us and see it for ourselves in a changing world.

The “Grace” doll is traditionally made on the day of the Annunciation (April 7), so that prosperity and abundance enter the house along with the good news. This doll has twig arms raised up. This is a symbol of the fact that for well-being it is necessary to be ready for the flow of abundance, to be BLESSING, which a woman is by nature. This is a symbol of openness to heaven, God and the world around.

By creating this doll, we will be able to realize the obstacles and limitations that in our subconscious do not let the flow of ABUNDANCE into our lives. Let us understand what qualities of our soul bring GRACE to loved ones.

The creation of one's space of well-being and wealth is a subtle, intimate and individual process, it is beyond any technologies and algorithms, it is difficult to describe and diagnose. He is an experience, a spiritual movement and an inner exploration. Grace is a doll that will help us understand the harmonious structure of the world and ourselves, thereby creating a special creative state of “grace” around our life.

Charming doll Grace is made on a horn branch - a symbol of the World Tree. Those who have practiced Yoga will immediately remember such an exercise, when the outstretched arms should be held up with palms towards the sun, this exercise, in my opinion, is called “Adoration of the Sun”. It is interesting in that while it is being done, a person's time is spinning in the opposite direction. Did 10 minutes, became 10 minutes younger. The exercise, I must say right away, is not easy! :-))))))

For such a doll, a sprig of American maple is well suited, because. their branch forks are quite symmetrical.

I start winding the red thread (turn to turn, without gaps) from the fork to the end of the branch and back down to the fork, switch to another knot, wind it up again and return down to the fork.

I make a head out of a square of fabric, tie it into a fork, then fasten the breasts, turn out the panev and the apron.

Tie a scarf over your head. This doll is from Valuni (Saransk, Mordovia).

People say: “The husband is the head, and the wife is the neck. Wherever the neck turns, the head will look there. Apparently, therefore, in the doll "For a successful marriage" the main emphasis is on the neck. The doll is made without hands - so that there is less hard work and so that the husband wears it in his arms. A lot of collars - so that the chests of outfits are full. Girls who wanted to attract a groom and get married as soon as possible made such a doll for themselves. The craftswoman chooses the number of collars herself, in the process of working, guessing for each of them some quality of her future spouse (so that he loves, knows how to provide for his family, etc.) When guessing, we don’t get carried away much and remember that“The wise neck does not climb above the head, but knows how to turn around so that the head sees what it needs”!

Simeon is also an assistant in completing cases! If there is some kind of protracted process (at work, related to money, etc.) or simply there is not enough strength and determination to finally complete the once started business or incorporeal relationship, then it is worth twisting Simeon for yourself.

It is also worth doing Simeon if you feel disharmony with your Inner Man, you feel a lack of some traditionally masculine qualities - courage, strength, determination, logic, etc. or too much rigidity, strength, assertiveness, etc. And of course, Simeon will help to work out problems in relationships with a spouse or beloved man, unmarried women to realize the reasons for loneliness.

Doll "Grace" and "Prosperous"

In this lesson, we will make two pupae with you:

The Grace doll is made and presented with the words: "Don't be sad, don't be discouraged, don't give up!" This doll, like “Blessing”, never gives up, they are raised high up - she asks the Almighty for grace for her owners. Therefore, it is also called Oranta (prayer). It is also a sign of Gratitude. “First give, then ask.” The Grace doll brings the good news to the house, the good and reminds the woman of her main task: to Give Good.

The doll "Prosperous" protects the family, contributes to the prosperity of the house and the increase in prosperity (inside it is a coin). She is also called "Domovushka", because it was believed that she finds a common language with the brownie. This protector of the house can be hidden in the palm of your hand - its height is only 5-8 cm. A small and charming doll, nevertheless, is able to resist all the evil forces trying to bring trouble into the house.

Bring extra with you. horn (a branch of birch or mountain ash bifurcating on one side)

Doll "Bird Joy" - a doll of the spring rite associated with the arrival of spring. It was believed that birds bring spring on their wings. In the first days of spring, women put on their brightest outfits, went outside the outskirts and called for Spring. The bird-joy helps a woman to understand her purpose and feel her attractiveness: it is important to separate the concept of "beauty" from the ability to attract - in a special way charge the surrounding space with itself and its condition, into which people are attracted - men, women, children's souls. This is a special ability of a woman to give a man something that gives him confidence, peace, a sense of his own importance, significance, dominance, and ask him in return for protection, love, tenderness, generosity. And this doll also turns time to spring, and life to joy!

Additionally, bring with you: fabric for twisting

Doll "Spring Fever" (for diseases)

The end of spring and mid-autumn - the period when most colds begin - is the time to make Likhomanok dolls.

Likhomanka rag dolls are special, protective dolls. Their task is to attract the attention of the villain-disease that has flown into the house.

According to ancient Slavic mythology, various kinds of diseases associated with chills or fever caused fevers or shaking sisters and represented them in the form of skinny evil winged women in white, with an uncovered shaggy head and a stick in their hands. These evil creatures, having served their time deep underground, flew out into the world and scattered in different directions. They greedily pounced on people and caused various diseases. A woman-fever attached to a person began to “burn and burn, walk into the world, shake the human race, shiver, torment, dry her body, break bones and pull veins.”

According to the nature of the diseases and the course of diseases, the observant people identified 12 main fever sisters. The thirteenth Kumokha is the oldest, "greatest" of them and the most evil. It is Kumokha who sends her sisters to the world of people - "to chill, torturing a sinful body and crushing white bones."

Our grandmothers believed that the evil spirit of the disease would fly into the dwelling in search of its victim, see the bright elegant Likhomanok dolls, think that it was a person, and move into one of them……. That is why Likhomanok is made from very bright, eye-catching fabrics. And during the manufacture, a special conspiracy is read. The pupae that have served their time are burned along with all the diseases that they have accumulated ....

In addition, bring: 12 different bright fabrics (squares, the size of a palm), 1 bright fabric (square, the size of an elbow), a fabric 1 meter long and 10 cm wide, cotton wool. It is desirable that you once wore one of the fabrics ...

The Maid-Baba doll represents the value orientations and tasks of a woman before marriage, when she is a girl, and after marriage, when she becomes a woman. Why does this “turn into a woman” hurt the ear? Yes, because today the meaning of the word baba is completely different. To be called a woman was very honorable and it had to be earned by giving birth to the successor of the family - a girl. The woman who gave birth to life-giving power could only bear this title of Baba. And those who gave birth to sons remained young. The Maid-Baba doll reflects 2 essences of a woman: she can be open to the world and give beauty and joy, and she can be turned to herself, to her unborn child, and keep peace.

The girl - elegant, beautiful, with a braid, with a ribbon - all outward, shows herself in all her glory, in all her strength to the world. She does this for a reason, her task is to find her betrothed, to attract him, and the betrothed must be a match for her and have the same strength as the bride. Only in this case they will be able to form a happy couple, which is why she exposes herself to everyone. Then the hem turns inside out, the girl hides inside, and a woman appears outside. She is more modestly dressed, in a scarf, clothes of calm tones. But the power of the devkin has not gone away, it’s just that now there is no need to show it to everyone, the power is preserved for oneself, for the husband, for the family, it is always inside.

Bring extra with you. a stick of a female tree about 25 cm long and as thick as a finger (birch, willow, mountain ash, spruce), sanitary flax.

About dolls

The doll was an assistant to a person in rituals aimed at life. Until now, many agricultural rituals with dolls are known. These are dolls - Mermaid, Cuckoo, Harvest, Yarilo, dolls - images of natural entities.

There are dolls depicting Christian saints, who were previously worshiped by the people. These are Paraskeva Pyatnitsa, Simeon the Stylite, Spiridon Soltsevorot, Kozma and Demyan and others.

The dolls depict people in rituals and agricultural holidays - Semik and Semichikha - a married couple with whom they gather together for the Semik holiday.Known dolls that depict the phenomena of the universe - Day and Night. And dolls with which you can interact with the forces of nature - Mokredina, Sukhoveyka.

With the help of dolls, they arranged a happy fate (for happiness, for a happy marriage), protected the wedding (lovebirds), childbirth (quads) and protected on the Way.

Dolls replaced men who left home, for this they made puppets (male puppet images), which were fed and consulted with them. Sometimes dolls were placed on the roof of a house or in a garden, and the fate of the departed was judged by them. The dolls protected the house, sleep, served as amulets for Satiety and Prosperity. There were many dolls depicting women in one state or another: Vesta, Mother, Grandmother (Beauty, Motherhood, Moskovka) or mowing, reaping (Mowing, Reaper).

The doll was judged on needlework. There is a puppet doll (boast,) which served as a kind of exam for a pass to gatherings, where you could look after a couple. Work served as a pass - an embroidered apron.

There were dolls by which they watched how the husband would treat his future wife. By the way he takes the doll, they judged this, and if there was something wrong, they helped - they ruled, taught. The Slavs have always taken care of the world within themselves and helped others in this form.

The help of dolls is invaluable in transferring diseases to them, which were seen as spirits or entities that torment a person, they were called Fever and Fevers.
