How schools work in May. May weekend schedule

This year the May holidays were placed very conveniently on the calendar. May 1 fell on a Sunday and resulted in a day off on Tuesday, the third. None of the employers applied for Saturday on the last day of April, so everyone will receive a pleasant mini-vacation of 4 days (April 30 - May 3). Then there are three working days - May 4, 5, 6 - followed by a three-day weekend from the 7th to the 9th. The remaining Saturdays and Sundays in May will remain unchanged.

It's safe to say that on weekdays between the May holidays there will be few cars on the roads. Many of those who have time off, extra vacation days, or the opportunity to take days at their own expense will try to do this (and you, dear readers, can do it too!). As a result, they will get a full 10-day vacation with an economical “waste” of measured vacation days.

Holidays in May and more

Of course, guessing and calculating is not always convenient. There has been talk for several years about making the May holidays long weekends instead of New Year's. Still, relaxing in a relatively warm May is much more pleasant than in an unpredictable January: whether it will snow or not, whether the skating rinks will open or melt...

Alternative projects were also submitted to the Duma: for example, to leave only January 1, 2 and 7, May 1 and 9 as days off, cancel everything else and automatically add another 10 days to everyone’s annual leave. Or finally make December 31 a day off, because few people find it convenient to celebrate the New Year after waking up at 6-7 in the morning and working all day. But no decision has been made yet, and the May holidays remain separated by a “half-working” period of 3-4 days.

Have a nice holiday!

After the New Year holidays, the May holidays are traditionally a legitimate opportunity for Russians to take a break from work and spend time with family. In 2016, at the beginning of May, the country will rest for a whole week, albeit with a three-day break.

The May holidays have once again been significantly extended. In May 2016, Russians’ production calendar includes two series of non-working and holiday days: from April 30 to May 3, inclusive, and from May 7 to May 9. There are seven days off in total, with three days of work in between. This procedure applies to all employees of government and commercial organizations with a standard work schedule.

Thus, Russians will spend the first 10 days of May 2016 as follows:

  • April 30 – Saturday, day off;
  • May 1 is a Sunday, a public holiday, so the day off is moved to Monday, May 2;
  • May 2 – Monday, rest for May 1;
  • May 3 - Tuesday, rest for Saturday January 2;
  • May 4 and 5 are regular working days;
  • May 6 – Friday, working day, work as usual;
  • May 7 and 8 - Saturday and Sunday, days off;
  • May 9 - Victory Day, public holiday, non-working day;
  • May 10 - Tuesday, the beginning of a shortened work week and the transition to standard work and rest time.

It should be noted that April 29, 2016 is not a shortened working day, just like May 6. Since for all workers, short working days are recognized only on the days before public holidays, which are non-working days. Therefore, April 30 will be a short working day only for those employees who work six days a week.

Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation N 1017 “On the postponement of days off in 2016” was signed by the head of the Cabinet of Ministers Dmitry Medvedev back in 2015. The transfer of the holiday on January 2 to May 3, by virtue of the document, is the last in 2016.

Officials made the decision to move the New Year holidays to the May holidays in 2012. Then, for the first time, the authorities extended the May holidays. Corresponding changes have been made to the Labor Code of the Russian Federation. True, in 2016, the May holidays accounted for only one day of the holidays; the remaining two days were given to March 7 and February 22, increasing the rest time for the celebration of March 8 and February 23.

A complete list of holidays and non-working days is given in Article 112 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation. By virtue of the order of the Ministry of Health and Social Development of the Russian Federation dated August 13, 2009 N 588n, when a day off is transferred to a weekday, the duration of work on the former day off must correspond to the duration of the working day to which the day off was transferred.

Work on weekends and non-working holidays is prohibited, except in cases provided for by labor legislation. Employees can be recruited to work only in cases and in the manner provided for in Article 113 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation. At the same time, wages on weekends are carried out according to the standards provided for in Article 153 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation. This means that for work on a weekend or a non-working holiday, an employee must receive payment of at least double his salary or tariff rate. In addition, at the request of the employee, he may be given another day to rest.

Taking into account all the transfers of weekends, you can see it in a special section of the St. Petersburg legal portal.

Traditionally, it so happens that a large number of weekends in our country fall not only at the beginning of the year and the first month of spring, but also in May. Therefore, many of our fellow citizens are interested in the question of when to relax during the May holidays. Also, many people want to know how many days off there will be in May. Now these questions can be answered quite simply, since deputies determine the weekend schedule in advance. By making some of the days of May days off, they hope that our fellow citizens will spend this free time usefully.

Russians' interest in the number of days off in May is due to the fact that some politicians have recently made statements in which they talk about the need to take initiatives to gradually reduce the number of holidays. Such decisions, according to some politicians, will help avoid the phenomena of continuous drunkenness into which some fellow citizens throw themselves. However, the majority of the country's population does not yet support such initiatives. Therefore, the number of days not only does not decrease, but also increases.

This year, Spring and Labor Day, celebrated on May 1, falls on Sunday. Based on the norms in the law, it should be postponed to the next day. This means that May 2 will be a holiday, which means a day off. At the same time, if we focus on the government decree, which determined that the day off Saturday, January 2, was moved to Tuesday, May 3, it turns out that citizens working five days a week at the beginning of the last month of spring will have four days off. Thus, on April 30, May 1, 2 and 3, they can enjoy their holidays and go about their business. With a six-day working week, three days are allocated for rest - May 1, 2 and 3.

Another holiday that falls in May is Victory Day, sacred to Russians, celebrated on May 9. This year it falls on Monday. In anticipation of it, there are two days off for people who work a “five-day week.” This way they will have three days off. They will be free from work on May 7, 8 and 9. For those people who work a six-day workday, rest will be limited to only two days - May 8 and 9.

Thus, it can be stated that those of our citizens who work on a schedule five days a week will have more days off. Not only will they have more days off. In addition, the week between holidays will be shortened. Thus, at the beginning of the month they will receive four days off - from Saturday 30 April until 3 May. Then you will have to work for 3 days. Their last working day will be May 4. Workdays will begin on Wednesday, May 4 and end on Friday, May 6. After this, the weekend will begin - from Saturday 7 May to Monday 9 May. Citizens who work a five-day week will return to work on May 10. There are no other holidays in May.

Every year, changes are made to the production calendar due to the postponement of various holidays, including church holidays. This is due to the fact that some holidays fall on weekends. According to current legislation, these days are shifted either to the next working days, or by special decree they are transferred to days of other months. This approach allows you to make holidays continuous. This is economically beneficial and justified from the point of view of convenience for citizens. The largest number of days off falls on the New Year holidays and the month of May.

Preliminary information posted officially helps you plan your weekends and vacations by booking tours, booking hotels and purchasing tickets in advance. In many cases, such pre-planning helps to make your dreams come true, since on many weekends, especially New Year's holidays, it is simply unrealistic to purchase tours and tickets.

Note! Bookings are often made six months before the trip itself.

So, let's figure out how to relax in 2016.

The most joyful holidays in January

The Ministry of Labor of the Russian Federation, in accordance with Article 112 Part 2 of the Labor Code, decided to transfer the days off on which the holidays of January 2 and 3 fell to other days so that workers could spend more holidays without interruptions.

The day off is moved from Saturday, January 2, to Tuesday, May 3, and Sunday, January 3, to Monday, March 7. This practice is common and rational, helping to maintain the continuity of holidays and allow people to go on holiday this weekend.

Note! In the new year 2016, we will all have a rest for ten whole days - from January 1 to January 10 inclusive.

Weekends on January holidays are added to non-working holidays in January. These are January 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8, which fall during the New Year holidays, and January 7, when all Orthodox Christians celebrate the Nativity of Christ. All this data was approved in accordance with Article 112 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation.

Such a serious vacation will allow many to have a great rest at home, and also have time to go on a tourist trip, skiing, skating and sledding. A long winter holiday will benefit the body, and the little ones will be given numerous New Year's parties and performances where they can go with the whole family, together with mom and dad. Congratulations and gifts received from family and friends, as well as those provided by Father Frost and the Snow Maiden, will make the New Year holidays as desirable for children as for adults.

Weekend in February

In February 2016, the days from Sunday 21 to Tuesday 23 February were turned into holidays. This was done in honor of Defender of the Fatherland Day. Three days of rest in a row were possible thanks to the postponement of the day off from Saturday, February 20, to Monday, February 22. As a result, we have the opportunity to plan a winter trip for three free days or just sit back and relax.

It’s not for nothing that February is considered the hardest month - these are the last gasps of winter, when the weather is not at all pleasant and your strength is running low. A little rest will be very helpful.

Note! Unfortunately, Saturday became a working day because the day off from Saturday, February 20, was moved to Monday, February 22.

Holidays in March

The 2016 non-working days in March include four whole days - from Saturday 5 to Tuesday 8 March. The postponement from Sunday, January 3 to Monday, March 7, helped celebrate International Women's Day for so long. It would seem that the lost day off for the New Year turned out to be very useful in March, because in our country we love and honor women’s holiday, and spring even more contributes to the desire to properly relax and have fun.

After a long winter, spring holidays are especially valuable and enjoyable.

May holidays in 2016

On the May holidays, it is customary for us to have picnics and out-of-town trips, with families and noisy groups of friends going there. This year, the May holidays will take place from April 30, Saturday, to May 3, Tuesday. During this time, everyone will have time to relax, enjoying the steady warmth, blooming gardens and traditional May barbecues.

How many days we will rest in May depends on what days the holidays fall on. This year, the May 1 holiday falls on a Sunday, a day off, so according to the law it was moved to Monday. Another day off appeared as a result of the postponement of January 2 to May 3. As a result, in May 2016, Workers' Solidarity Day became a four-day holiday.

But that is not all. In May we will rest for another 3 days - from May 7 to May 9, from Saturday to Monday, celebrating Victory Day over Nazi Germany with our family and friends. These days we will remember everyone who did not return from this war, who shed their blood and worked with all their might in the rear. These are our grandparents, it is to them that we now owe the opportunity to work calmly, relax and enjoy the peaceful sky, hoping for a bright future for our children and grandchildren.

June holidays

In honor of Russia Day, the workers of our vast Motherland will receive a three-day rest. It will run from Saturday June 11th to Monday June 13th. June 12, 2016 turned out to be a Sunday and was moved to the next day.

On these pleasant warm summer days, it will be very nice to be outside the city or in the country, breathe in the freshness of the night and listen to the nightingale singing. At night, when the air is filled with the aromas of flowering plants, you begin to understand the truth of the words about “how delightful the evenings are in Russia.”

November holidays

These autumn holidays are traditionally popular in our country, although their ideological meaning has changed dramatically. The revolutionary theme disappeared, replaced by a more progressive and democratic Day of National Unity. In November we will be able to relax for three days in a row, from November 4 to 6, from Friday to Sunday inclusive. These days we can all gain strength for the coming winter by walking in the fresh air and meeting with friends and loved ones.

Every year we look forward to the May weekend, we plan in advance to go out for barbecues, organize picnics, meet with friends and watch the parade in honor of the great Victory Day. We should not forget about perhaps the most anticipated holiday event of the year for many believers. In 2016, the government of the Russian Federation defined weekends for its citizens as follows.

How do we relax during the May holidays?

  • May 1, 2016 falls on Sunday. By the way, in 2016 May Day is combined with Easter.
  • May 2, 2016. Due to the fact that May 1 turned out to be a non-working day, the day off in the production calendar was moved to the next day - Monday.
  • May 3, 2016. Oddly enough, it’s also a day off! Official holidays in January (2 and 3) fell on Saturday and Sunday, which is why January 2 was moved to May 3, and January 2 to March 7. Consequently, Russians will rest for three days – from 1.05 to 3.05.
  • May 7, 2016- Saturday.
  • May 8, 2016- Sunday.
  • May 9, 2016- one of the most important days of the year for Russians, when all residents of the country celebrate the anniversary of the victory over the fascist invaders. Victory Day will be on Monday, which means that Russians will have to rest for 3 days - from Saturday (7.05) to Monday (9.05) inclusive.
In the future, all May holidays may be united!

Thus, there are no long weekends for the May holidays. This issue has already been raised several times in the Duma: one group of deputies adheres to the position of uniting the May holidays into a single weekend period. Others say that additional days off should be completely excluded from the production calendar, adding them to the annual vacation period. There is a third opinion - to give the Russians a choice. Anyone who wants can take extra days off for the May holidays, and if not, take those days off for vacation.
