How to define goals?

To set goals, ask yourself the question: what do I want at this moment in time? Someone wants to find good health, someone wants to earn 10 thousand rubles more than last year, someone wants to find their soulmate or open a business. Write down all your desires on a piece of paper. Have you recorded it? Now choose the ones you need to achieve first. These will be your goals.

How to formulate a goal?

Defining a goal is not everything. It also needs to be formulated correctly. Read below for information on how to do this.

First of all, the goal should evoke positive emotions in you. In other words, sound affirmative. In the name of the goal, the particle “not” should be excluded, words like “must”, “obligated”, “required”, “necessary”, etc.

Achieving your goal should depend solely on you. You cannot force your husband to quit smoking, your girlfriend to break off a relationship, or your son to learn a specific profession. Only that person himself can want and do this. On the other hand, we need to remember that we can achieve something alone, and something only with the help of other people. But we and only we choose these people (let’s say, the order executors). Therefore, achieving the goal in this case depends only on us.

Specify and visualize the goal. Examples of specific goals: “I want to pass the algebra exam with a 5”, “I want to learn how to create websites in 3 months”, etc. Visualization, in turn, helps to feel and imagine the end result, which ultimately makes it much easier to achieve the goal itself.

A good visualization exercise. Close your eyes and imagine the apartment you would like to live in in 10 years. You got out of bed in the morning, got dressed and went to the kitchen with a beautiful interior, luxurious fittings and modern furniture. We prepared a delicious breakfast, ate and headed to the bathroom to take care of our appearance. After the morning toilet and contrast shower, you went to the wardrobe, where you got dressed and got ready for work.

Spend 10 to 15 minutes doing this exercise. Such visualization will greatly increase your motivation to achieve your goal.

The goal must be environmentally friendly. The environmental friendliness test is carried out as follows. You need to ask yourself the question: does achieving this goal contradict your beliefs or objective reality? Will achieving this goal violate any existing relationships or values in your life? If you set several goals, you need to make sure that they do not conflict with each other?

The goal must be achievable. There is no point in wanting to conquer Everest, fly into space on a rocket, or participate in Formula 1 races if you have neither the health nor the capabilities for this. Set realistic goals: “write an article in 1 day,” “find a life partner next year,” etc.

Deadlines. Finally, correctly determine the interval for achieving the goal. Set deadlines that are as reasonable and sufficient as possible. It is unrealistic to learn English in a week, build muscles in 3 days, or lose 20 kilograms in 1 month.
